Support for Not-for-profits

Clearer direction. Stronger communication. Greater community impact.

Not-for-profits balance ambitious missions with limited time, funding pressures and growing expectations from communities, funders and stakeholders. Keeping everyone aligned while continuing to deliver meaningful work is rarely simple.

Jinx Consulting helps not-for-profits turn complex priorities into practical action. From strategic planning and program evaluation to communications, engagement and digital presence, we work alongside boards, leaders, staff and volunteers to strengthen organisations and the impact they create.

The challenge

One organisation. Many audiences. No room for mixed messages.

Not-for-profits often need to communicate with many audiences at once: community members, participants, funders, volunteers, donors, partners, referral networks, committees, boards and local stakeholders. Each audience needs something slightly different, but the message still needs to feel clear and consistent.

The challenge is that communications work can easily become reactive. A flyer here. A social media post there. A grant update when it is due. A website change when someone has time. Before long, important information becomes scattered and the organisation starts relying on one or two people to hold everything together.

Clear communication helps people understand what you do, who you support, how to get involved and why your work matters.

How Jinx Consulting supports Not-for-profits

Practical support across your organisation

Our work is shaped around what your organisation needs now, not a predetermined consulting package. We can support a defined project, help resolve an immediate challenge or work alongside your team through a longer period of change.

Strategy and organisational direction

Develop a clear, achievable direction that connects your purpose, priorities and resources. We support strategic planning, operational planning, governance conversations and the practical work needed to move from strategy into delivery.

Program evaluation and impact

Understand what is working, where improvement is needed and how to communicate the difference your work makes. We design practical evaluation frameworks, outcome measures, data collection approaches and impact reporting suited to your organisation’s capacity.

Community and stakeholder engagement

Create meaningful opportunities for people to shape decisions, services and future directions. We support consultation, co-design, workshop facilitation, stakeholder mapping and inclusive community engagement.

Communications and digital presence

Strengthen how your organisation presents itself across websites, social media, reports, campaigns and everyday communications. We help create clearer messaging, more consistent content and digital platforms that are easier for people to navigate and trust.

Service design and feasibility

Test ideas before committing significant time or funding. We help organisations understand community need, explore delivery options, assess feasibility and design services that are practical, accessible and responsive.

Projects, campaigns and events

Create meaningful opportunities for people to shape decisions, services and future directions. We support consultation, co-design, workshop facilitation, stakeholder mapping and inclusive community engagement.
Support for smaller organisations

Big ideas should not be limited by small budgets.

Smaller not-for-profits, grassroots organisations and volunteer-led groups often face the same communications and digital challenges as larger organisations, without the same internal resources or budgets.

The Jinx Consulting Community Support Program provides customised, reduced-fee professional support to eligible community-based organisations. Support may include clearer messaging, website improvements, social media and promotion, simple planning, content systems or practical tools that reduce pressure on volunteers.

Each enquiry is considered individually so the support remains realistic, useful and proportionate. The program can accommodate one-off projects or ongoing assistance, subject to fit and availability. View the Community Support Program.

Working with Jinx Consulting

Consulting that works with your organisation, not around it.

We understand that not-for-profits cannot pause their day-to-day work while a consulting project takes place. Our approach is collaborative, proportionate and grounded in the realities of your organisation.

Discover

We listen to your team, understand the operating environment and clarify what genuinely needs to change.

Design

We shape the project with you, bringing together evidence, organisational knowledge and the perspectives of the people affected.

We turn ideas into practical plans, communications, tools and actions your organisation can use.

Demonstrate

We help capture outcomes, communicate progress and show the value created for communities and stakeholders.

What stronger looks like

Improvements that continue after the project ends

The right support should leave your organisation clearer, more capable and better equipped for what comes next. Depending on the project, that may mean:

A strategic direction people understand and can act on

Stronger evidence for funding, reporting and decision-making

Clearer communication across different audiences

More meaningful participation from communities and stakeholders

Services shaped around genuine need

Practical systems that are not dependent on one person

Greater confidence across boards, staff and volunteers

What Not-for-rpofits often ask

Common questions

Do you work with both small and established not-for-profits?

Yes. We support organisations ranging from volunteer-led community groups to established not-for-profits with staff, boards, funded programs and multiple service areas. The scope and approach are tailored to the organisation’s size, capacity and priorities.

Can you support a single project?

Yes. We can assist with a defined project such as a strategic plan, evaluation framework, engagement process, communications review, website refresh, campaign or event. Ongoing support is also available where it provides greater value.

Can you work with our board, staff and community?

Yes. Many projects require different groups to contribute at different stages. We can facilitate board discussions, staff workshops, stakeholder interviews, community consultation and co-design activities.

Is the Community Support Program available to every not-for-profit?

The program is intended for smaller community-based and volunteer-led organisations with limited access to professional support. Enquiries are reviewed individually, and places are limited. Organisations that do not fit the program can still engage Jinx Consulting through our standard services.

Let’s make it easier to move forward.

Whether you are reviewing your strategy, strengthening a program, preparing for funding, improving communication or working through a period of change, we can help turn the next step into a practical plan.

The Community Support Program is designed for smaller, community-based organisations seeking practical, reduced-fee professional support. We review each enquiry carefully to ensure the right fit for both parties.

The Community Support Program is designed to support a limited number of smaller, community-based organisations each year. All enquiries are reviewed carefully to ensure the program is the right fit for both your organisation and Jinx Consulting. Participation in the program is at the discretion of Jinx Consulting. While we value every enquiry, we may not be able to support all applicants. Where possible, we will provide guidance on alternative options if the program is not suitable.
